As an explorer of the depth of space everything has some kind of use at one time or another. Tiles make up the world around you most can be picked up and moved and placed in the foreground or background. Tiles are removed by mining them with your laser pick, with a mining vehicle, or an auto miner consumable. You mine in the foreground by default, and can toggle to background mode by pressing tab while your laser pick is selected on the toolbar. To place tiles, place a stack in your toolbar and highlight it. This will activate the ability to place them back in the world. Like the pick, you can toggle tile placement to background mode by pressing tab while your stack of tiles is selected on your toolbar. While any natural tile can be placed, you can choose more decorative tiles by crafting and placing structure tiles. These are unlocked on the Base Construction Knowledge track. Note: In order to place a tile it must be touching another tile, or a background tile; you cannot build in mid-air without building up to where you want your floating structure to be, and then removing the extra tiles.
